Kali Ma

Kali Ma is the beloved Hindu Goddess who has two arms to cut that which is no longer needed and two arms to comfort one during the process. Like a good mother. She is a powerful ally to have and is still honored actively in parts of India. She has similar energy to the Lioness Goddess Sekhmet of ancient Egypt, Red Tara and many others as well as my own Jaguar Woman. I dedicated Lane's Greenwitch Tarot to her because it is her energy we need as we journey to heal the hidden places within us that hold us back from our full magnificent potential. Kali Ma knows! And she cares.

The dedication in the tarot guidebook needed an illustration but I was having trouble doing a painting of her. But she appeared one night in Lynda Chick's Shamanic Breathwork workshop and I did a rough pastel drawing of her. It wasn't right yet but the next morning I leapt out of bed at 6 am and did this painting. Just in the nick of time as the Guidebook was about to head off to the printers.
